Student Veterans

Wounded Veteran Run is proud to support our local student veterans. Since 2015 we have donated to the Veterans Success Center at Folsom Lake College to help them with textbooks, computers, and other student needs. We also provided gift cards for gas and grocery to help over the holidays when their VA benefits are not received. We hope to continue this relationship and grow it to help Veterans Centers at other area colleges and universities.

Purple Heart Fund

The Purple Heart Fund is a once yearly grant opportunity designed to lend support to local nonprofit organizations who share our mission of helping wounded veterans. In 2017 we are suspending this program in an effort to lend more aid to our student veteran program.

Past recipients:
Phoenix Training – Warriors Reborn
Defenders of Freedom – CA Chapter
Horses Healing Heroes
Folsom Lake College Foundation- Veterans Resource Center

Boots to Suits

Wounded Veteran Run is pleased to offer our Boots to Suits program which outfits veterans with interview attire so they are dressed for success as they head in to their new careers in the civilian workforce. Wounded Veteran Run will provide a new suit from Men’s Wearhouse or Nordstrom Rack. If you are interested in this program, please fill out the form here and send a copy of your DD 214 to courtney@woundedveteranrun.org.

WVR Cares

WVR Cares aims to help local veterans obtain adaptive equipment so they can live as freely as possible. If you, or a veteran you know, are in need of assistance please fill out our request form here and we will do our best to provide.

Here’s a look at some things we have done through WVR Cares:

Provided a scooter lift and hitch for a disabled veterans truck.
Donated to a local veterans center to help fund their wheelchair accessibility project.
Donated to help build an adaptive home for a wounded veteran in Davis, CA.

Holiday Cheer

Wounded Veteran Run takes on several holiday giving initiatives when December rolls around.

Since 2014 we have teamed up with Military Family Support Group to provide Christmas to military families in need. Through this program we have provided 13 children with presents on Christmas morning.

In 2015 and 2016 we provided student veterans at Folsom Lake College with gas/grocery cards to help them through the holiday season. Student veterans only receive VA benefits when school is in session so we decided to step in for the holiday break. We gave 200 gift cards for a total of $5,000.

We were also able to help two homeless veterans this holiday season by providing care packages that each included a hat, sweat pants, thermal shirt, gloves, 3 pack of socks, and $200 for local eateries.
